The Nexus Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium is a multi-use sports and recreation arena. With hockey as a primary use, the $55M facility will include three sheets of ice which can easily be transformed into field-based turf surfaces and multi-purpose community event space.

The Nexus Center also features full-service food and beverage service areas, locker rooms, college classroom space, retail space and other multi-purpose areas.

The 170,000 SF recreation and sporting complex supports ice hockey, box lacrosse, soccer, and other field sports drawing all levels of competition from across the U.S. and Canada. The Nexus Center will become the new home of the American Hockey League’s Utica Comets, Utica College men’s and women’s hockey, and the Utica Junior Comets youth hockey organization.

With Hueber Breuer as the Design Builder VIP’s involvement with the Nexus Center is two-fold. VIP Architectural Associates is involved in the design as architect of record  in collaboration with Perkins and Will (design architects) and IPD Engineering (MEP/FP and structural design) and   On the Construction side, VIP Structures, INC is leading the steel construction.
