Construction: VIP Structures

VIP served as a General Contractor with New York City design firm Fiedler Marciano to renovate a 110-year-old building made up of Subcat Studios, Redhouse Theater, apartments, and commercial space.
A range of work on the interconnected buildings included brick façade improvements, signage, and a new entrance tower in the rear of the building. At Subcat Studios, the interior space required extensive shoring and leveling to house the new recording spaces properly, and the proximity to an active railroad line made this critical and challenging. The existing wood-framed floor system was entirely removed and replaced with a new concrete and steel structure that allowed complete acoustical and vibration separation of the recording studios.
The walls and ceilings were heavily insulated and finished with acoustical treatments. The exterior glass walls were equipped with privacy glass, where glass goes from clear to foggy translucent at the flick of a switch. The exceptionally hospitable environment includes an artist lounge, a repair shop for recording equipment, and an instrument room loaded with top-of-the-line equipment. The third floor consists of three apartments for musicians using the studio or actors at the Redhouse Theater. SubCat clients and visitors can find everything necessary to produce recorded products on its three levels.
