VIP Structures Announces Retirement of Longtime Leader of Development

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Jan. 26, 2024 —VIP Structures announces the retirement of Charlie Wallace, longtime President of VIP Development Associates, Inc., a subsidiary of VIP Structures that focuses on building development and property management. After more than 40 years of remarkable service, Wallace leaves behind a legacy of innovation, excellence and dedicated community involvement. His official retirement was January 1, 2024

“Working alongside Charlie has been an extraordinary experience and I’m honored to have been his business partner and friend. His unparalleled expertise and deep commitment to both the company and the community has been the bedrock of our success. His vision and leadership will be greatly missed as he steps into retirement.”

-Dave Nutting, founder and former CEO of VIP Structures

A Cornell University alumnus, Wallace was a visionary in the field of property development. Since 1975, he has led the landscape of design, consulting, and real estate development, with pivotal roles at Cini‐Grissom Associates in Bethesda, MD, and Michaels & Colburn Associates in Boston, MA, and later as the driving force behind VIP Development Associates since 1984. Wallace started VIP’s development division in 1984 when Owens-Illinois partnered with VIP to build two million square feet of commercial distribution space around the country.

Under Wallace’s leadership and with the integration of VIP’s in-house architecture, engineering, and construction services, VIP Development, unique from other real estate developers, became a beacon of excellence for design-build lease options, site selection, and property management – offering unparalleled cost efficiency, communication, and flexibility in development projects.

“Charlie has been more than just a pillar of strength and wisdom at VIP – he’s been integral to our family. I am filled with immense gratitude and respect for all that he has contributed and I look forward to honoring his legacy by continuing to innovate and lead VIP towards a future that is bright and impactful.”

-Meg Tidd, CEO

Wallace was instrumental in designing, constructing, and leasing approximately three million square feet of space nationwide. His keen eye for project site selection, financing and tenant coordination has significantly contributed to the economic development of the area’s VIP serves.

“It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I continue to build on my father’s legacy. Charlie’s dedication to innovation and community has set a high bar for us all. We owe much of our success to his visionary leadership, and I am committed to expanding upon that foundation to lead our company into a promising and dynamic future.”

-Chuck Wallace, Named President of VIP Development 2023

Beyond his professional achievement, Wallace is a man deeply rooted in his community. His involvement with organizations like SkanRaces.com, Inc., Skaneateles Recreational Charitable Trust, and the Auburn YMCA, among others, highlights his commitment to enriching lives beyond the realm of real estate.
