The Immense Pride of Construction

There are moments when a project transcends the realm of bricks and mortar, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those involved.

In the construction world, every project is unique, with its own challenges and triumphs. However, there are moments when a project transcends the realm of bricks and mortar, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those involved. One such moment was the grand opening celebration of the Upstate Cancer Center in Verona, which unveiled a new symbol of hope and healing that brings cancer care closer to people living in Madison and Oneida counties and marks the first collaboration between the Oneida Indian Nation and the State to build a medical facility for an entire region on Native American lands.

The 33,000sf Cancer Center, designed by Architecteam and built in 12 months, features diagnostic and treatment services for all cancers, housing a Urology/Surgery Suite, a Clinical Lab, a Hematology-Oncology Suite with 16 infusion stations, exam rooms, an onsite pharmacy, a Radiology Suite featuring X-Ray, PET, MRI, CT Scanning, and a new state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator.

Stories of the shared vision, unity, healing, and hope emerged through the celebration’s heartfelt remarks from project leaders, including members of the Oneida Indian Nation, Upstate Medical University, and The Cameron Group.

“It is a historic day to think this facility will heal all people on Oneida Indian Nation land….I can’t think of any better use of this land than for healing”

-Ray Halbritter

“We are so grateful to the Oneida Indian Nation to be able to share this piece of land…it is a healing place and…will bring miracles to many people.”

-Dr. Gennady Bratslavsky
