VIP Structures was the General Contractor for the new 30,000 SF Upstate Cancer Center at Verona. The single-story cancer treatment and radiology service facility includes a Urology/Surgery Suite, Clinical Lab, and a Hematology-Oncology Suite with 16 infusion stations (totaling 22,000 SF) and an 8,000 SF Radiology Suite featuring X-Ray, PET, MRI, CT Scanning, and a new state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator. The construction of the Linear Accelerator vault included 7’ to 8’ thick high-density mass, radiation-protected concrete walls and was skillfully cast with an extensive timber system.

The $10M building required careful planning by VIP’s team to properly prep and ensure the space was ready to receive the Center’s $18M of high-tech equipment. To better understand Upstate’s operational efficiency, equipment layout, and provider and patient flow preferences, the VIP team visited and studied Upstate’s existing Downtown Syracuse location to ensure the new Center would be equipped and operate in the same manner.

VIP completed the original scope of work in the scheduled 14-month period. The Center was designed by Architecteam.
