Northern New York native Stephen Savell brings more than 25 years of engineering, construction and development experience to the newly created executive role
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Building on more than 50 years of growth, VIP Structures has named Stephen Savell as Chief Business Development Officer. His appointment expands the company’s ability to engage clients earlier, strengthen strategic relationships, and pursue opportunities across the industrial, mixed-use, and commercial markets it serves.
Savell brings more than 25 years of experience spanning engineering, construction, real estate development, and business development. His broad perspective complements VIP’s integrated model and strengthens the company’s ability to recognize where its combined expertise can create the greatest value.

A native of Watertown with family roots in Central New York, Savell returns home after building a career that has given him experience from concept to completion across the development and construction processes. He has worked on industrial, mixed-use residential, and commercial projects and understands the decisions required to move them from initial concept through planning, design, financing, construction, and operation—a perspective that closely aligns with VIP’s integrated approach.

Returning to the region where I grew up and where my family is rooted makes this opportunity especially meaningful.”
As Chief Business Development Officer, Savell will work with clients, community partners, and VIP leaders to understand evolving needs and identify where the company’s combined expertise can make the greatest difference. His role will create more opportunities for early conversations about site selection, facility needs, strategy, and long-term growth plans—helping clients connect with the right people and resources when early decisions can have the greatest impact on a project’s success.
Existing project teams and client relationships will remain in place, with Savell adding another level of support rather than changing how clients currently work with the company.
Savell is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering. Before joining VIP, Savell served as Partner, Development & Innovation at Ottawa-based Windmill Development Group. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer of ReArch Construction in Vermont and New Hampshire.
