On Tuesday, June 7th, a near-record crowd of 7,862 people from 280 companies participated in the 34th running of the Corporate Challenge at Onondaga Lake Park. VIP Structures put together a team of 15 employees who took part in the 3.5 mile run/walk. The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series is a world-wide series of running events open to groups of full-time employees from organizations within the business and public sectors. It is meant to be a fun event that promotes health and fitness in the workplace, and fosters team building among fellow employees. The event ends typically with teams gathering at their company tent for a post-race celebration.
The Corporate Challenge strives to make a difference through a donation to a not-for-profit organization in each host city. In Syracuse, the JPMorgan Chase Foundation made a donation on behalf of all participants to Vera House, a first-time beneficiary partner with the Corporate Challenge. Vera House works to end domestic and sexual violence and elder abuse. Its services include counseling, advocacy, emergency shelter and education.
