Since 1896, Gaylord Bros. has provided library and archival supplies and library furniture to public libraries, schools, colleges, and museums worldwide.
After Gaylord was acquired by Wisconsin-based DEMCO, the company was considering moving its Syracuse manufacturing and office operations out of New York State.
VIP Development Associates worked with Gaylord management and area economic development officials to identify a site that was economically viable and would allow the company to remain in Central New York. The solution was a site at Hancock AirPark, where VIP had previously developed site plans and a “virtual building” concept for the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency. With key town approvals already in place, the site helped shorten the path from site selection to construction.
VIP Development Associates developed the property, with VIP’s Architecture and Construction teams providing Design-Build services for the 72,000 SF office, light assembly, and shipping facility. The project helped Gaylord remain in Onondaga County, retaining approximately 140 local jobs while providing room for future growth.
VIP Development Associates leased the facility back to Gaylord Bros., structuring the lease to allow key economic development incentives to be passed on to Gaylord as the tenant.
