Founded in 1975, Brooklyn Pickle is a New York City-style deli and catering company located in Syracuse, NY. With two thriving locations, one on Burnet Avenue on the east side of the city and another on West Genesee Street on the city’s west side. VIP’s integrated team of architects, engineers, and construction professionals were hired to design and construct an expansion project for Brooklyn Pickle’s west side location in just six months.

The 1,600 SF project required two new building additions, which included a patio area, reconstruction of the existing parking area, new landscaping, and implementation of green infrastructure practices.

Sustainability Feature

Approximately 11,500 SF of impervious parking surface was replaced, and a retaining wall was added to allow room for a rain garden for the capture and treatment of run-off from the roof and groundwater. These “green” efforts resulted in $30,000 of funding from the Green Improvement Fund of Onondaga County and the Department of Water Environment Protection.
